Jeison Alexander Castaño Hernandez (artist name JEIHHCO)

What is your involvement with the YMCA?

I am part of a hip hop network that was founded in 2002 by the YMCA of Medellin. Since then I have been very involved in the hip hop program and I have also participated in various leadership trainings and consultation processes.

Who are your role models?

My role models are all the people who contribute to positive social change in their communities. People who are against war. The people who contribute to building a better world through art, education, culture and social equity.

What is your passion?

My passions are music, youth participation, empowerment and life!

What would you like to share with people in Toronto?

I would like to share my music, the music of my friends, our experiences, our ways of seeing and thinking about the world. I would especially like to share our dreams for a better world.
What are you hoping to learn from your experience in Canada? I’m hoping to listen and share dreams with the youth of Toronto, as well as learn about other cultures, customs and people, learn about the hip-hop movement in Toronto and learn more about the worldwide YMCA movement.
